About the Metals

There are several options for each design... different metals and a variety of colors.  Here's some information on the individual metals.

ALUMINUM - Bright Aluminum is clean, shiny, bright and corrosive resistant.  It will never tarnish either.  This is a hard tempered aluminum that has wonderful strength.

ANODIZED ALUMINUM – This is a perfect way to add color to chainmaille!  The anodized coating can scratch, so some care should be used.  This is a hard tempered aluminum which helps to keep the rings strong and lightweight.

COPPER – This is a reddish metal that corrodes rather easily and will change with wear and exposure to the elements.  But it can be cleaned rather easily to keep it’s shiny new penny look.  This is a stronger material than either of the Aluminums, but is also heavier in nature too.  It can be combined in many designs with Anodized Aluminum for spots of color.

ANODIZED TITANIUM – Colors will vary for this item so if you are looking at pieces to coordinate, they should be ordered at the same time.  There are subtle variations in color with these rings (almost a two-tone effect).  Titanium is very strong and still light-weight.  This is a good soap-and-water cleaning item!  Easy to wear, strong and durable!  Colors with anodized titanium are muted in nature and not shiny bright like some others.  Don’t let this discourage you though, it makes for beautiful designs!

ANODIZED NIOBIUM - Anodized Niobium is strong, corrosion resistant and hypo-allergenic.  The base Niobium is a dark silvery gray color, but Anodized Niobium is beautiful and very vibrant!  Anodized Niobium is the same strength as sterling silver too, but is over 20% lighter.  Colors will vary too and we're working on pictures, often the anodized rings have a two-tone appearance and make for beautiful jewelry.  This two-tone coloring occurs during the anodizing process and is actually an added bonus to the material.

STERLING SILVER –  Fine Silver is 99.9% silver and Sterling Silver is 92.5% silver.  This is a gorgeous metal that is rather hard to work with, but usually worth the effort.  It does however tarnish with age, but can be restored to it’s natural beauty easily.  This is a sturdy material that makes for long-wearing pieces.  This creates chainmaille pieces at their finest, but it can be a bit pricey, so it should be considered as an investment in your accessories.

14KT GOLD FILL – These rings are created from 14K gold (filled with half-hard tempered Brass).  Due to the creation process, there is very little risk of the brass wearing through the gold under normal circumstances.  Tammi can offer 10K Gold (not gold fill), but with the market fluctuations of Gold, this is a great deal and way to add some class to your wardrobe.

Jewelry Components

Tammi is constantly keeping an eye on quality and as a result, the other findings and components in her jewelry reflect this.

BRACELET AND NECKLACE CLASPS - Tammi uses only Lobster Clasps for her bracelets.  Depending on designs and design materials, these include:  Sterling Silver, Silver Plated, Copper or Gold Fill.  For some necklace designs, she uses a silver plated barrel clasp for security.

EARRING WIRES - These are either Surgical Steel or Stainless Sterling.  Other materials could require gold wires.
